Simon McKay
President, Past Minister of Team Spirit and 'Social' Events

Dear World,

My name is Simon. My name spelled backwards is nomis. I enjoy intellectual discussions, vegan foods, and have pledged my life to sobriety. Also, everything you just read is complete BS. I like partying, biking, snowboarding, streaking, biking, pizza, my boat, the ranch, biking and doing the stuff you see on youtube when you say "Who the *%$# would do that". I'm taking Applied Pharmaceutical Chemistry at school which tends to kick my ass as much as it can. On top of all that, I love GMBC / UGC.

I joined the club in my second year at Guelph with my 978,000 lb freeride bike, zero race experience, and a cool red t-shirt that I wore when I raced. It was unreal. Every single person was more than willing to offer advise on riding, training, bike maintenance, racing, etc. In less than a year, I was addicted to biking, got a real cross country bike, raced O-cups, got a road bike ANDDD was part of the 2008 U-Cup champion team! I hope every new member can get as much out of this club as I have, so:

Step 1) Join us!
Step 2) If you have any ideas or questions shoot 'em my way. I know everything and will try anything.

See you at the Ranch!

Chris Fruetel
Vice President

Hey guys I'm Chris and I like to beat Anton at things. I'm predominantly an XC racer, though due to an injury I'm not allowed to race this year and have been enjoying the finer things in cycling and life, such as beautiful sunsets and walks on the beach.

My main focus and advice for the whole club is promoting good times on the bike, it doesn't have to be intense and everyone should ride is how I feel. We have a great club here and such a variety of people who all get together because we all love bikes and build some great camaraderie riding so much together. I encourage everyone to jump in on any rides they want, and the University Cup race series too!

Feel free to contact me however you like with any ideas or questions for the club, as well as criticism and new opinions to keep the club running smoothly and to keep the atmosphere as friendly and inclusive as possible!

Criticize/ help me out with this guys, I'm totally up for whatever the club needs to keep it going the way that the great men who founded the club ran it in the past. god bless.

Webmaster

In the summer of 2008, I took over the webmaster duties for our website, so please forward me any site related comments to me. The best way to reach me is via private message on our forums.

After a long absence from road riding, I made my return to cycling in the summer of 2006. Since then, I've become an avid commuter/trail rider and in the fall of 2008, made my introduction to XC Racing. When I'm not working on computers or out riding, I can also be found in my garage fighting with break caliper clearance and on other bike mechanical adventures.

Fellow Pedalers, Congratulations on finding the GMBC, you're going to enjoy it. This year I'm on board the exec ship to help in organizing most of our events and make the club at large run as smooth as a ceramic bearing in zero gravity.

There is a major road riding side to this club as well as everything else. I'll be taking care of most things road related. You can find me by coming to the weekly road ride (among other rides), or looking for the guy computing wind resistances at different 'velocities'.

Cycling found me through the mtb and doing the biggest jumps our little bikes and legs could handle. I've been cycling regularly for three years now, road and mtb,and racing for two. I started with road racing, then soon tried the University Cup MTB races, then an 8-hour mtb and onto road-criteriums. I recommend them all!

I also spent two years as Coordinator of the University Bike Repair Center, which on top of my previous experience has given me plenty of wrench time.

You'll find the GMBC has something for every cyclist, welcome to the club!

Anton Verabei
Past Race Team Captain

Hello. I'm Anton, and "I liike to push on zee pedal".
I have been in love with mountain biking since a kid and have been racing it for past 6 years, and now planning join the road racing scene as well. I have been on the club for 4 years since year 2005 and have seen it grow from few core members into the U-Cup Champions. I am proud of what previous execs have accomplished and will do best in my abilities to help this club continue its legacy as the "best cycling club in Ontario"!
As you may have noticed from the title I will be responsible for racing aspect of the club. I will help lead the training rides, give some training advise, and answer any questions about U-cup or O-cup racing scene.
So if you like to learn how to ride really fast on your bike - I’m your man. However, if you’d like to learn how to make your bike really fast -Bayden is your man. (In other words, I’m not the best man to ask about mechanical aspect of the bikes)
Welcome aboard and hope to you soon!!!

Past President

Hey Team,

I have been cycling competitively since I was 15 and currently specialize in XC mountain biking. I have also fallen in love with road cycling recently and expect to compete this summer in some of the road O-Cups.

My ultimate goal is to see the UofG remain #1 at the University Cup Race Series, hopefully some of you new members will assist the team in our goal.

I look forward to meeting you!

Morgan Edwards
Past President

Morgan has been riding bikes for almost as long as he's been able to walk. But it was not until he discovered the GMBC that things got serious.

He rode casually to and from school until coming to university here at Guelph where, in the fall semester of his third year, he was introduced to racing in the form of the University Cup races. These races only solidified his love for all things bicycles, and in the after-hours he solidified many friendships within the club.

"I'm honoured to be a part of something as fantastic as the GMBC, and the friends I've made through the club are some of the best I've ever had."

Morgan will be racing off-road on a Orbea OiZ Carbon, and recently acquired a Masi 3VC for defeating the asphalt.

In addition to cycling, he is an avid climber, fisherman, and general outdoorsman. During the summer he plays Australian Rules Football with the Toronto Central Blues in the OAFL.

He enjoys long walks on the beach, sunsets, playing the guitar, and puppies.
